Are you afraid to eat carbs with fat?
Have you tried reframing your food rules?
I meet a lot of clients who have internalized the idea that they can't eat carbohydrates with fat because it will make them gain weight.
Here's the truth about eating carbs + fat in combination: it actually SATIATES.
I think we get too busy judging and fearing the food to realize how it actually works in our body. I used to eat carbs and fats separately, and by the end of the day found myself knee deep in whatever foods I could get my hands on (usually bread + peanut butter, so what was the point?)
When I started eating these foods together, I recognized their density is exactly what allowed me to move on from the kitchen. They told my stomach: we're GOOD! We're full and satiated. Thanks, go on with your day.
I know what you're thinking -- "even when I eat these foods together, I still binge, so I might as well reduce where I can!"
Sure. Overeating foods is part of the initial process of rejecting food rules. It takes time for the fullness signals to kick in and the rebel psychology to simmer down.
But eating the food comes first. Your fullness and psychology won't respond until it feels sure that you are not going to take it away again.
This is the hard part, of course. Trusting & troubleshooting.
