On SSRIs

This week in my weekly Wednesday newsletter (link in bio), I talked about my experience with taking an SSRI during my food freedom journey.

As I reread it this morning, this part jumped out at me:

"Alongside normal eating patterns, I am able to manage my anxiety without medication. And that's huge."

Because I had always thought anxiety was just a part of my lot in life.

And to some extent, that's true.

But I was blind to how intensely my disordered eating was contributing to the intensity and manageability of it.

It's extremely difficult to manage anxiety and regulate emotions in the chaos of bingeing and restricting.

For me, it became do-able *without medication* alongside normalized eating. (This is only my experience and will not be true for everyone.)

I know there are people out there struggling with mental health AND eating issues, and I want you to know that disordered eating can exacerbate your symptoms.

If you feel comfortable, please share your experience below. Because if we're normalizing normal bodies, let's normalize mental health while we're at it.
